What do you do on a Sunday as an exhausted parent, who only has a few hours off baby duties? Get some quality food somewhere exquisite with a stunning view! This time our choice fell on one of Damon’s favourite places, Marina Club VW at the spectacular Valletta Waterfront.
It was one humid Sunday, and even though we drove down all the way to the Waterfront, we opted for indoor dining. The first thing that caught my eyes was the magnificent fortress ceiling which gave the overall modern interior a very traditional antique feel. A delightful lounge music with pleasant beat to it played in the background complementing the overall atmosphere.
The menu offers a wide variety of mouth-watering dishes, ranging from fresh off the sea fish to succulent Argentinian rib-eye. From the large selection of wines I went for a glass of Merlot, homemade in Siggiewi, that went down quite smoothly. While we waited for our starters, we were brought some fresh Maltese bread (probably my favourite part when dining out) with flavoursome tomato paste infused with herbs, basil, and garlic. As my seared scallops wrapped in guanciale and dry pancetta arrived, I took instant notice of the immaculate presentation. It did not only look good but tasted absolutely luscious. It was perfectly crispy on the outside yet soft and fluffy on the inside simply bursting with flavours.
I also had a cheeky bite of Damon’s flavourful homemade minced beef sausage, that frankly did not look very appealing but was oh so delish!
Our main consisted of scrumptious medium to rare beef T-bone with potatoes baked to perfection and fresh crispy salad. As I savoured every bite, I started planing our next visit so I could try out the seafood section of the menu.
The attentive staff made the whole experience even more delightful and immensely satisfying. Marina Club VW is definitely on the very top of my most-favoured places at the Valletta Waterfront!
